Who can benefit from osteopathy?
Osteopathy is for everyone, from newborns to seniors, including athletes and pregnant women. Each approach is tailored to the person's age, morphology, and specific condition.
How should I prepare for an appointment (clothing and tips)?
It is recommended to wear loose and comfortable clothing (sportswear style). Prior to your session, avoid heavy meals that could make you feel uncomfortable while lying down on your front or back.
Will it hurt?
Osteopathy prioritizes gentle techniques that respect your body's tissues. While some areas of tension may be sensitive to the touch, it should not be painful. I maintain constant communication with you throughout the session to ensure your comfort.
Is it normal to feel tired after a session?
Absolutely. Your body is working to integrate mobility changes and release tension. Mild fatigue or soreness may occur within 24 to 48 hours following a treatment.
Do I have to wait until I'm in pain to consult?
Not at all. Osteopathy is an excellent preventive tool. It helps identify and release tensions before they turn into persistent discomfort, promoting better flexibility in your daily life.
How many sessions will be necessary?
The number of meetings is unique to each individual. My approach does not rely on a predetermined number of sessions. Following the initial evaluation, we will establish your objectives together. We will reassess your progress at each visit to decide, by mutual agreement, whether to continue or space out the appointments. If your condition does not seem to progress as expected, I am committed to referring you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Is there a professional order for osteopaths in Quebec?
Currently, osteopathy is not yet governed by a professional order in Quebec, although steps are underway with the Office des professions. In the meantime, I am a member of a recognized association that ensures strict standards of practice and training.
What is the difference between osteopathy, physiotherapy, and chiropractic?
While these disciplines share an interest in the musculoskeletal system, their approaches differ: physiotherapy often focuses on functional rehabilitation; chiropractic on the integrity of the nervous system via the spine; and osteopathy on the globality and interrelations between body structures to restore general balance.
Protection of Personal Information (Law 25)
Protecting your privacy is at the heart of my practice. I use the Quebec-based platform StaminaSys for secure and encrypted record keeping, and Tuta for encrypted professional email communications. Your information is only used for your clinical follow-up and is never shared with third parties without your explicit consent. For any questions or requests to access your data, you may contact me directly.
At what age should I bring my baby for their first appointment?
There is no minimum age; a newborn can be seen within their first few days of life. An early evaluation helps support the infant following the constraints of birth (whether physiological or through intervention).
Accessibility and Inclusion
The clinic, located at the Queen Elizabeth Complex, is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility (elevators and adapted facilities). My practice is a safe space for the LGBTQ2S+ community. Respect, openness, and recognition of each individual's reality are at the core of my approach.
Do I need a medical referral to consult?
No, a doctor's referral is not necessary to book an appointment in Quebec. As a first-line professional, I conduct a full interview during our first meeting. However, if your condition is outside my scope of practice or requires a prior medical diagnosis, I will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional. If you have received a recommendation for osteopathy from another healthcare professional, please feel free to bring it to our first session.
